About
Sofia is a Spanish American flutist based in Omaha, NE, USA. She is an active instructor and performer, having performed nationally and internationally. Sofia has held performance, clinic and staff work for various international, regional and state classical festivals.

Performance festival credits include the 2025 XVII edition of the World Flutes Festival in Mendoza, Argentina.​ Sofia was an invited performer for the CFC 2025 "Flute out of the Box," performed in the 2025 "Songs of Earth, Sea & Sky" and the 2024 "Creatures Great and Small" seasons with the Scheherazade Music Festival (SMF), 2024 Flute New Music Consortium (FNMC), 2022 National Flute Association (NFA) Convention, 2019 Chicago Flute Festival (CFC), and at the 2019 and 2022 University of Nebraska Omaha (UNO) Flute Festival. She was also a member of one of the original 12 ensembles selected to perform the NFA commissioned piece, “Oxygen,” for 12 flutes by Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Julia Wolfe for the 2022 50th Anniversary NFA, having been hosted in Chicago, IL.
Sofia was selected to work with the International Alliance for Women in Music (IAWM) in 2024. IAWM is noted as "the world's leading organization of women in music." Through IAWM, Sofia worked with the committees and Executive Board in its operational activities. Sofia has also worked with the Tampere Flute Fest (TFF/Finland) in their 2022 season, "ICE/jää," season, as part of the TFF Academy. As well, Sofia provided staff involvement for the 2022 and 2023 seasons of the Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival (NCMF).

Through performance, teaching, administrative and programming work, Sofia is passionate about connecting with the musical community of Omaha. She enjoys working with flutists of every level and age, seeing their potential and working toward their musical goals. Sofia has an interest in Body Mapping and its positive contributions to physical and musical elements, both as a performer and instructor, and has begun to work towards a certification as a Licensed Body Mapping Educator. Sofia is invited for services throughout the year, including worship, wedding and private services in Nebraska, and has played in local venues such as Gallery 1516, Samuel Bak Museum, St Cecilia's Cathedral Flower Festival, and KVNO Classical Radio lobby music events.
She has worked with Omaha Area Youth Orchestras as Assistant Rehearsal Manager and has served as flute specialist at the Omaha location for Schmitt Music. Sofia currently works as Program and Data Assistant with the Omaha Conservatory of Music, where she also works closely with the data and program elements in various educational, advancement and administrative programs, including the String Sprouts program. String Sprouts is a music program that provides orchestral lessons to children in the Omaha-Council Bluffs and Scottsbluff communities in Nebraska and Iowa.

Sofia holds a Master of Music (2024) and Bachelor of Music degree in Flute Performance from UNO (2021), having studied with Dr. Christine Beard. Omaha Symphony Orchestra Principal flutist Maria Harding and Professor of Violin at UNO, Olga Smola, have also served as musical mentors in her studies. She has performed in masterclasses and lessons with American flutists Carol Wincenc, Dr Rik Noyce, Dr. Daniel Carlo, and Dr. Megan Lanz, as well as Canadian flutist Christopher Lee and Italian flutist Sergio Pallottelli.
